The same cotton can feel completely different depending on how it is woven and finished.
A simple one-over, one-under weave. Percale has a matte, crisp feel, breathes very well and stays cool — ideal for hot climates and for people who like a “fresh hotel sheet” feel. It gets softer with every wash.
Here more threads float on the surface (for example four over, one under). Sateen feels silky and drapes beautifully, with a gentle shine. It is slightly warmer than percale and needs a little more care to stay smooth.
“Glace cotton” is the name the Indian market uses for cotton bedsheet fabric given a smooth, lustrous finish. Colours look rich and bright, and the sheet feels soft and slippery to the touch — which is why glace cotton prints are a favourite for gifting and everyday family use.
| If you want… | Choose |
|---|---|
| Cool, crisp, breathable | Percale |
| Silky, with a soft sheen | Sateen |
| Bright colours and a smooth feel | Glace cotton |
| Durability for daily commercial washing | Percale or a satin-stripe sateen |
